HUGHES CENTER STUDIES DISSECTED: WHAT IS MYELOPEROXIDASE?
Posted: 21 Mar 2016 07:09 PM PDT

Scientists at the Hughes Center for Research and Innovation announced two groundbreaking ProArgi-9+ discoveries in 2015 that Synergy Team Members all over the world have been talking about.

CLICK HERE to read the full descriptions of these discoveries.

One of these studies addresses the effects that ProArgi-9+ has on reducing the oxidation of LDL cholesterol. And the cause for oxidation? Myeloperoxidase (MPO).

The last sentence of the second study conducted states, "The Hughes Center's preliminary study discovered that the unique combination of ingredients found in Synergy's ProArgi-9+ potently inhibited myeloperoxidase and helps to reduce the oxidation of LDL cholesterol."

So far, we know myeloperoxidase negatively effects nitric oxide production, but what is it exactly? And how exactly does it operate? With answers to these questions, we can gain a better understanding of why it's important to keep myeloperoxidase from running its course.

MYELOPEROXIDASE: BOTH FRIEND AND FOE

MPO is an enzyme produced by white blood cells and is used to fight infection. MPO produces oxidizing compounds similar to bleach to kill infecting bacteria. The problem arises because the antimicrobial hypochlorous acid—an infection-fighting substance—kills both foe (bacteria) and friend (healthy tissue). This causes the oxidization of tissues.

Scientists at Synergy WorldWide have been evaluating natural inhibitors of myeloperoxidase as a nutritionally therapeutic approach to support cardiovascular health.

Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Matthew Tripp said, "We discovered that certain ingredients in Synergy's ProArgi-9+ are indeed natural MPO inhibitors and work together synergistically. This unexpected discovery led to the filing of a provisional patent application on ProArgi-9+."

WHY MEAL REPLACEMENTS?

WHY MEAL REPLACEMENTS?
Posted: 21 Mar 2016 07:08 PM PDT

You're busy. So busy, in fact, that you hardly have time to grab lunch between errands, meetings, and other obligations. Restaurants and grocery stores are filled with unhealthy food, and when you're in a bind, grabbing the quick, overly processed lunch seems to be the only option that fit your schedule. But thanks to products like Synergy's SLMsmart Health Shake, people are finding ways around these issues.

Thanks to meal replacements like Synergy's SLMsmart Health Shake, people are finding a way around this debacle. Meal Replacements aren't consumed solely for weight management anymore, they are viewed as a no-hassle meal that supplies complete nutrition. In addition, adding protein and meal replacement powders to other foods is growing in popularity.

For these reasons, meal replacement sales continue to grow as lives become increasingly busy. In fact, by the year 2020, this segment of the industry is expected to rake in a whopping $9 billion in sales. Take a look at these encouraging stats from 2015:

  1. $7 billion – Amount spent on meal replacements
  2. $3 billion – Meal replacement sales in North America
  3. $2 billion – Meal replacement sales in Asia
  4. $1 billion – Meal replacement sales in Europe

Euromonitor also states that a current trend is categorizing meal replacements as a whole food option because manufacturers are creating formulas using all-natural ingredients. Taking this one step further, SLMsmart is not only made with natural ingredients, it's made with natural ingredients that are tested for impurities of every kind before being released into the market.

Today, consumers are more concerned about the types of supplements and products they are consuming than they ever have been before. For this reason, SLMsmart Health Shake is the perfect solution for the health conscious, the protein-seekers, the busy bodies, the dieters, and more

Strict Audits Protect Quality Products
Posted: 28 Mar 2016 02:41 PM PDT

Before your shipment of Synergy products arrives at your doorstep, before the products are manufactured and packaged, and before the individual ingredients and final products are tested, Lynda Hammons, Vice President of Quality Assurance, investigates and scrutinizes the source that produced the product ingredients.

Several times per year, Lynda travels to destinations around the globe to visit Synergy WorldWide and Nature's Sunshine Products vendors for routine audits. This is, of course, after the vendor has gone through a meticulous selection process, which evaluates their processes. About 90 percent of Synergy's vendors pass Lynda's audits, and the 10 percent that don't have to prove they've corrected the issues found during the audit before doing business with Synergy again.

Thousands of steps are taken before a Synergy product reaches a consumer's lips, but each step holds great importance considering the end goal: enhancing global health. There isn't a measure Synergy would not take to ensure the safety and potency of its products. The fact that Synergy's Quality Assurance team actually conducts regular vendor audits sets it apart. Countless companies rarely or never visit the sites where their product ingredients are harvested or manufactured.

"I've visited a number of vendors who are prepared to take me out to lunch and give me a tour of their facility," Lynda said, "and they are amazed when they realize I am serious about doing the audit. There are a lot of companies out there that just aren't taking the time to do these critical inspections."

The vendor selection process begins in Purchasing. If a new product calls for never-before-used ingredients, Purchasing searches for vendors from China to Germany to California. The Quality Assurance team works with Research and Development as well as Purchasing to perform an onsite audit once a vendor passes the initial round of screening. Today, many of the company's preferred vendors have been supplying raw materials to Nature's Sunshine since its conception in the 70s.

"We don't go for the cheapest, and we don't switch vendors to get a better deal," Lynda said. "We enter into our vendor relationships with the intent to have a long-term partnership with them, however, that doesn't mean we stop testing the materials they give us. If we've been getting pure raw materials from a vendor for 40 years, it doesn't matter. We still take the time to test every batch of product that comes into the manufacturing facility."

New vendors must be audited before Synergy uses any of their materials, while existing vendors are audited every 2-3 years. Risk assessments based on country, material, and supplier, are conducted each year and play a part in deciding which existing vendors are due to be audited. China's botanical vendors are deemed "high risk" when considering Synergy's quality standards, which is why the Quality Assurance team visits often and will spend three weeks in 2016 auditing all of its China vendors.

Lynda and her team make their expectations clear before beginning an audit, and though Lynda is a stickler for quality, she wants the vendor to pass the audit and works with them to see how she can help them meet Synergy standards. Helping a vendor often includes giving them a product forecast, testing method expectations, and other specifications. This is why Purchasing and Quality Assurance request audit meetings before the actual audit begins. This is where vendor relationships are formed.

When Lynda begins inspecting a supplier's facility, she makes sure that they follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), which is a system that was created to minimize the risk of any pharmaceutical production that cannot be eliminated through testing the final product. Synergy products are also tested and manufactured following GMP requirements. An audit lasts a minimum of eight hours, and the length of the audit largely depends on how difficult it is to extract or produce the needed material.

The process begins by overseeing every step a particular product goes through, starting with receipt of the material to warehousing. During this process, the facilities are evaluated, including the bathrooms where the availability of soap and hot water is confirmed. Vendors without access to hot water for proper employee hygiene fail immediately. Of course, the facilities need to be clean and well maintained. Then, the vendor's quality control labs are evaluated to make sure that the vendor's quality processes match Synergy's. Before raw ingredients even reach the Nature's Sunshine Products manufacturing facility, they've already been tested many times to confirm their purity and potency.

Perhaps the most time consuming part of vendor audits is assessing the vendor's documents. Lynda asks for random sanitation, quality control, specification, stability, pest control, GMP training, employee training, calibration, validation, environmental micromonitoring, change control, and recall procedure documents, to ensure the vendor maintains consistent, clean, and safe manufacturing processes.

Lastly, Lynda speaks to the vendor about their green initiatives. What are they doing to be eco-friendly? What do they do with hazardous waste? How do they maximize their energy efficiency? How do they recycle? Are they involved in any sustainability projects? Synergy wants to partner with and support suppliers who are passionate about doing their part in preserving the Earth. Synergy's Quality Assurance team doesn't let vendors get away with anything. When vendors travel to the Nature's Sunshine Products/Synergy WorldWide manufacturing facility, they are amazed, and they often tell Lynda that they wish they had seen the facility before their audit to fully understand what kind of a company they were up against.

"It's wonderful to work for a company that supports every step in the quality process," Lynda said. "We want to help as many people as we can with our products and opportunity, and in order to do this we cannot have anything but the best."

In the first month of the SLMsmart 90-day Challenge we are already seeing the beginnings of incredible transformations taking shape. Perhaps even more important than the physical transformations underway are the mental transformations that need to take place first. The first few weeks of the Challenge require a substantial yet attainable shift in the way the Challenger thinks and acts. Many of our Challengers are already getting the hang of altering their thought processes and increasing their mental toughness in order to make healthy decisions. We can learn a lot from these individuals!

SLMsmart Challenger
MOCHA BUTKOVICH, COLORADO

Busy schedules are notorious for wreaking havoc on a healthy lifestyle, and Mocha is no stranger to this reality. Before joining the SLMsmart 90-day Challenge, Mocha's demanding job often kept her from cooking healthy meals at home, and instead turning to convenient less healthy options.

Since day one of the 90-day Challenge, Mocha has been making healthy decisions before the week even begins by preparing meals ahead of time—a trick that the SLMsmart App recommends. The first meal prep session cost Mocha a few hours, but now that she has the hang of it, it's becoming a simple routine that makes a huge difference in her food selections throughout the week. Mocha said that preparing food ahead of time has made establishing healthy habits easier, though the entire process is far from easy. Food prepping can help the forgetful eater, overeater, emotional eater, and anyone else with similar challenges, become more aware of what is and isn't going into their bodies, she said.

Meal prep takes place over the weekend and begins by taking out different sized bags—small bags for snacks and slightly larger bags for meals. Mocha fills the bags with nutritious foods recommended by the SLMsmart App and her SLMsmart coach. These bags help her manage portion sizes and are easy to grab from the fridge before she leaves for the day.

Mocha's mother is also participating in the Challenge and is a great support in the meal prep process. She has opened Mocha's eyes to a number of tricks that make healthy eating something to look forward to. Simply cutting a vegetable differently or making a colorful meal can make healthy food choices more inviting. Also, learning how to cook and season vegetables to your liking can make a world of difference, Mocha said, and is something she discovered when her mother taught her a new way to prepare Brussels sprouts—one of the green things she normally avoids.

"Food prep makes a real difference in your decisions because you are an active participant in your health," Mocha said. "If I spend the time to go grocery shopping and plan a week of meals, I'm more likely to stick to it because I've already taken the first step. I think a lot of us don't actively make poor choices, but when we recognize our poor choices, it's helpful to have a healthy alternative to turn to."

Medical Expert Finds Joy with Synergy // Synergy WorldWide Blog

Dr. Anthony Oketah has always been fascinated with the heart—the way it transports blood, the way it affects every other system and organ in the body, and its role in sustaining human life.

This passion turned him to cardiology and he has been practicing in this medical field for 15 years. However, there was something about his profession that was unsatisfying. He wanted to be able to do more for his patients. In addition, Dr. Oketah was born with an entrepreneurial spirit, always looking for an opportunity to create something bigger than himself, which is something that's more difficult to exercise as a doctor.

As he began to feel less fulfilled at work, Dr. Oketah began seeking a business opportunity that would allow him to do more and be more. Irish Team Director James Booth introduced ProArgi-9+ to Dr. Oketah and quickly Dr. Oketah knew he had found the opportunity he was looking for.

"I went through every bit of the Synergy website; I studied everything," Dr. Oketah said. "I was so impressed by the company, its culture, and its business views. The Compensation Plan is unbelievable and I have confidence in it."

As a respected figure among Ireland's medical experts, Dr. Oketah makes a powerful statement as a Synergy distributor because he has an intricate understanding of how the products work to support optimal health. After visiting Synergy WorldWide Headquarters, touring the manufacturing facility, and visiting the Hughes Center for Research and Innovation in 2015, Dr. Oketah said he was impressed by the team of scientists and their "perfect" responses to his challenging questions. He witnessed the financial and physical investment Synergy put into creating the absolute best products for its customers.

Knowing that Synergy's products and business opportunity had the capacity to make major changes in people's lives, he took the business to the people in a country he cares for deeply: Nigeria. He travels to Nigeria monthly to meet with local doctors and disperse the product. Testimonials from happy consumers are flooding in.

"Some doctors are focused on money," Dr. Oketah said. "When people come to me and say 'Thank you for this product, thank you for helping me start this business, and thank you for helping my family,' it gives me joy money can't buy. As a doctor, I can't give people employment, but through network marketing, I can."

When considering his Synergy goals, Dr. Oketah realized that he couldn't conduct his business the way he wanted to without sacrificing his medical career. He plans to give all of his time to Synergy WorldWide soon, and spend the majority of that time helping people in Nigeria get back on their feet.

"This business is about your personal ambition and your personal dream," Dr. Oketah said. "You need to know what your main goal is and then you need to work, and you need to work hard. Anyone can be anything with this company. I'm so confident in this. What do you want to be? What are you looking for? I am so happy to have found Synergy."

ProArgi-9+ Wins Best New Product at Expo!
Posted: 12 Jan 2016 06:50 PM PST

More than 15,000 people passed through the recent 2015 CAMexpo in London where natural healthcare professionals gather to showcase the latest products and attend workshops from health industry experts. This year, a group of Synergy Team Members attended the 2-day expo and showcased Synergy's bestselling product ProArgi-9+.

All of the healthcare professionals, practitioners, therapists, pharmacists, and health store retailers who attended CAMexpo had the opportunity to vote on the "Best New CAM Product." ProArgi-9+ beat 35 other products in the New Product Showcase's opening day to claim the award!

"It's the first time we've been at CAMexpo and it's been a tremendous show," said Synergy Team Member Lorraine Knight after receiving the award. "It's a great achievement for us to win this award, which gives our product the recognition we believe it deserves.  It's a great endorsement going forward and we're delighted to win."

Lorraine Knight and Peter Tarbitten organized and manned the ProArgi-9+ booth with the help of fellow Team Members Tamara McKenzie, Mark Weston, and their sponsors Paul and Kate Flint. They invited visitors to try the product and come back to the booth 45-60 minutes later to report their results. The vast majority of those who tried the product were more than pleased and voted ProArgi-9+ the Best New CAMexpo Product with total confidence. By the end of the expo, Synergy had a list of new customer and distributors.

"Receiving this award is validation that ProArgi-9+ is a product the people want and need," Paul Flint said. "People who have never heard about ProArgi-9+ are instantly intrigued by its health benefits and when they take the product they are seeing results right away. Health professionals, especially in the United Kingdom, are familiar with CAMexpo and this award will be a talking point as we introduce ProArgi-9+ to practitioners and therapists in the future."

We are ecstatic that the power or ProArgi-9+ was discovered by thousands of well-respected health professionals thanks to this fantastic tradeshowand the UK Team Members that made it happen.

Like each of you, I'm excited to get to work in 2016. Your tenacity, confidence, and desire to make a difference made 2015 another successful year for Synergy WorldWide, and I know 2016 will be no different. As a company, we have the leaders, the products, and the tools to achieve the loftiest of goals. If you haven't already set your goals for this year, write them down and share them with your team. Create a system of accountability and set yourself up for success.

From September through November of 2015, I had the opportunity to attend Synergy Summits around the world. It's always a pleasure to congratulate so many of our Team Members who have achieved new pin titles – this is a true reflection of the success in each of our markets. I congratulate each one of you who rank advanced this last year. I especially want to recognize the new executive ranks that have been achieved since the 2014 Summits:

Presidential Executive
Kim Young Cheon, Korea
Ni Nyoman Pariani & Nyoman Soma Legawa, Indonesia

Diamond Executive
Hakan Cetin, Austria
Jin Chul Kim, Korea
Ji-Young Yoon, Korea

Emerald Executive
Jeong Yoo Tae, Korea
Kamphol Preechasirichok, Thailand

Pearl Executive

Giuseppe Lucio, Italy

I Wayan Pardika Rusiama, Indonesia
Satomi & Hiroshi Yoshida, Japan
Nipon Rungraweesrisasithorn, Thailand
Eun Sim Kim, Korea

These executive ranks are a true indicator of the health of each market. New up and coming leaders are emerging around the world and helping strengthen our company's brand and position in the marketplace. I could not be happier for each of these individuals who are leading their markets and this company with energy and passion.

A quote by Mark Twain states, "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

As we begin this New Year, this is my invitation to you. Think back to the day when you joined Synergy WorldWide – whether it was days, months or years. What was your dream? How did you feel on day one? As individuals we cannot grow without challenges, so expect that they will come. However, never lose sight of where you're heading, never give up on your dreams. Through hard work, consistency, and optimism, we have the ability to do anything we set our minds to. So in 2016, I encourage you to explore, to dream, and to discover your true potential. This year will be a pivotal point in the future of this great company and I need you to be a part of it.

Wishing you the best,

5 Things to Say Goodbye to in the New Year | Synergy WorldWide Blog

0 komentar

Synergy WorldWide Blog

Posted: 29 Dec 2015 03:56 PM PST
Get your party hats and noise makers ready, because it's almost 2016! As entrepreneurs and Synergy Team Members, you are most likely noting your personal and team business goals at this very second in preparation for a fruitful New Year. For the best results, devise attainable goals and then create an action plan that makes you stick to those goals.

An estimated 24% of goal setters continue working toward their New Year's resolutions for more than a few weeks. Be part of the group that conquers in 2016. Set yourself up to be successful by getting rid of these five things that are toxic to your business goals:

1. Clutter

As a Synergy distributor, chances are you work from home. Do you have stacks of forms and handouts on your desk and counters? Are your business materials scattered around your house? If your answer is "yes," it's time to tidy up! Research shows that clean, organized spaces prompt increased productivity. As you physically clean your workspace, you'll find that your thinking space feels cleaner, too, and you'll be able to execute tasks with greater efficiency.

2. Wasted Time

Nowadays, it's almost too easy to let precious hours slip between your fingers thanks to the TV marathons of your favorite shows, the addictive games and limitless information contained within your smart devices, and the always beckoning social media sites. The digital world is a beautiful and dangerous thing. Make sure you've accomplished everything on your day's to-do list, before rewarding yourself with an hour of mindlessly channel surfing and Facebook scrolling.

3. Negativity

The voices in your head have a powerful, yet subtle, influence on what you're able to accomplish. If you tell yourself you cannot accomplish one of your goals, well, you've already failed. Surround yourself with positive people who believe in your abilities. Forgive yourself for making mistakes. If you have a disappointing week, look forward to the next week's potential. As you make an effort to be optimistic every day, in every situation, people will gravitate toward you and your positive outlook will give you hope for the future.

4. Blame

Life would be too easy if your plans always went the way you wanted them to. The struggles you experience can help you develop a certain skillset that makes you valuable and unique. While facing trying situations, take responsibility for your mistakes and quickly correct them. Stay away from blaming certain individuals or circumstances that you believe contributed to difficulties. This will bring about a negative atmosphere that suffocates your business. Stop pointing the finger and start tactfully addressing the issues at hand to improve business performance.

5. Procrastination

New goals are hard to digest at first. They're intimidating and can feel unattainable. With this attitude, you may feel like the safest thing to do is put it off until tomorrow. Before you know it, a month has passed and you haven't moved a single step closer to your objective. This is the ultimate recipe for disaster. Begin working toward a goal by starting small. Plan your daily activities the night before and get to work soon after you wake up. By taking a few large or small steps in the right direction every day, you will eventually arrive at your desired destination.

When Dan Higginson founded Synergy WorldWide in 1999, he had a clear vision of what this company would represent. He wanted the people who associated with Synergy to work from their hearts. He wanted to make a difference around the world and give others the opportunity to Leave a Legacy of health and financial freedom.

It's the perfect time of year to consider how you can help others who are struggling. Many Team Members have considered how they can make a difference and have changed many lives through their actions. What can you do to Leave a Legacy of charity? Focus on what you can do. Small steps turn into miles. No act of charity is ever wasted.

If you are looking for a way to give back, consider donating to 5 Star Legacy Foundation, Synergy's partner in charity that exists to alleviate the suffering of children, their families, and their communities by breaking the cycle of poverty through literacy, higher education scholarships, and self-reliance through entrepreneurism.

Stories from Team Members throughout Europe have proven that Dan's vision has turned into a daily reality. Here are a few:

Dora Debeljak, Slovenia

Just in time for Christmas, Dora donated money through a local charity chapter founded by Team Directors Bostjan Pilej and Irena Kladivar, to deliver food, clothing, and hope to those who are struggling during the holiday season. Dora and other Slovenia Team Members raised €1500 to create 100 baskets for families in need. Because of these Team Members' decision to donate, 33 families who would have gone hungry on Christmas Day will receive a special delivery that includes all of the makings for a beautiful Christmas dinner.

Mirva Martikainen, Finland

Mirva, a nurse and Synergy distributor of four years, experienced her most successful business year in 2015. To celebrate her and her team's success with Synergy WorldWide, Mirva decided to donate something to a local children's hospital. She obtained a list of items in various price categories that Finland's children's hospitals are in need of. She settled on purchasing an infusion rest chair for child cancer patients so that they can have comfortable place to relax while receiving treatments. As Mirva continues to build her business and find greater financial success, she plans to increase the size and frequency of her donations.

Paul, Kate, and Saxon Flint, United Kingdom

Synergy Team Members Paul and Kate are the full-time supporters of an ambitious, warmhearted, 9-year-old son named Saxon who has made it a hobby to raise money for the less fortunate. His most recent project is raising money to send 10 children to school in Mpongwe, Zambia. By raising just £1,200, these children will receive an education and one meal per day for a year. Saxon also raises money for charities by baking cookies, cakes, and more to sell in bake sales he organizes himself.

We are so touched by the acts of kindness, both big and small, displayed every day by Synergy Team Members. Continue improving lives one charitable act at a time, and you will find the greatest riches the world can offer.
